Q:Will it be possible to exchange the cams on the RA:Slalom sail 2007 for the new UltraCams? I would like to buy the UltraCam as a spare part and upgrade the 2007 sail, but I do not know if the size of new cam will simply fit into space for the existing cam.

A:Sorry but this is not possible. UltraCams cannot be retrofitted to older model sails because more than just the cam is different. Sails featuring UltraCam technology also have several reinforcements needed to accomodate the UltraCam

Q:JP Vision rig and NeilPryde Dragon Fly are having kids’ sail sizes. How should I choose between them?

A:Dragonfly is designed for fun, a high performance kid’s sail. It’s light-weight, stable. Construction and look matches the real wave sails. JP Vision sail is designed for beginner and intermediates. It’s a Dacron sail with PVC window. Light, strong, UV resistant and durable.

Q:In 2017 NeilPryde has a sail named V8. Is this the same sail with the old V8 sail?

A:Vintage V8 sail was launched in NeilPryde sail collection in 1991. It’s a Freerace sail, fast and powerful. 

2017 V8 sail is a twin-cam performance freeride sail. On new V8, designer merged the advantages of wide, race inspired luff sleeve and deep powerful profile with a soft rotation, easy rigging and light weight found in our Integra-Cam. The result is an incredible acceleration from get-to-go, excellent middle wind range top speed and upper end camber supported profile stability.

Q:How should I choose between SDM mast and RDM mast?

A:The NeilPryde RDM masts are compatible in curve with NeilPryde SDM Masts. Choose a RDM mast for a softer, more forgiving feel and durability and a SDM mast for faster response, stability and more direct feel. We recommend the use of SDM Masts on cambered sails.

Q:Sometimes in your specifications you suggest 2 masts that can be used eg: 370/400 or 400/430. How do I know which one to choose?

A:Both mast lengths will work however if you want to choose the ideal one for you then we suggest that you use the smaller one if you are weight less than 80kg and the bigger one if you are more than 80kg.

Q:I have a NeilPryde mast, but my NeilPryde sail is broken. Could I use NeilPryde mast with other brands’ sails?

A:All the time we suggest NeilPryde sail with NeilPryde rig. Every NeilPryde sail will perform to its highest potential when used with the specified NeilPryde mast because our sails are designed around our mast curves.

Q:What’s so special for 2017 NeilPryde Mast?

A:In 2017 All masts are finished using “Shark skin” surface texture. It is used as a finish layer on all new masts. This low friction surface prevents wet materials to stick onto the mast surface and reduces friction. 

Also, extra value is the 2+1 Year Warranty policy. NeilPryde offers a twenty four month warranty on all masts from the date of purchase by the original retail customer. A warranty extension of twelve months, giving a total of thirty-six months, may be obtained by registering online at www.neilpryde.com within thirty days of purchase.

Q:How could I distinguish different types of NeilPryde mast?

A:NeilPryde masts are distinguished by carbon content. 

TPX100 SDM/RDM mast is a mast with 100% carbon prepreg construction using special Torq-Preg construction in the base of the mas t. 

SPX95 SDM and SPX90 RDM are masts with 90% carbon in RDM and 95% carbon in SDM. Almost 100% carbon masts made strong! Compared to TPX100 there is additional safety margin in strength built into the mast. 

SPX65 SDM/RDM mast is the mast with the loest carbon content in NeilPryde range. In weight it is very close to the previous FLX70 range and NeilPryde believes this is the minimum carbon content we should recommend for NeilPryde sail.

Q:There’s 3 different types of NeilPryde Boom. How should I choose between them?

A:They are distinguished by materials. 

X9 is a all Carbon boom. 

X3 and X1 are Aluminum booms but they have different constructions. X1 Aluminum boom has monocogue body contrstuion; X3 Aluminum boom is with pressure flow forged aluminum head, which is more durable. For sizes, Z1 Aluminum boom just has small size from 140-190 and 165-225; X1 has more size options from 140-190, 160-210, 180-230, and 200-250. 

Q:I am trying to decide between an X3, X6 and X9 180-230 boom. Although there are some descriptions on the material make up both the X3 and X9 are described as having the ultimate performance, although the x9 is heavier. 

What is the real difference in performance btw the 3. Note I am a weekend intermediate recreational sailor on chop (rather than waves or a racing)?

A:The X3 boom is the lightest of all, but only by a little. This boom has the least performance of all booms. It is the cheapest with a good performance for it's price, it is a pure alloy boom. 

Then there is the X6 with a carbon tail, making the boom more durable and stiffer. This add's a little weight but also gives the boom better performance and durability, the power will be tranformed from the sail more derictly onto the rider. 
Then there is the X9. With the dual diameter (thin in the aria where you hold the boom for optimum comfort and thicker in the back for optimum stiffness and perfomance) This makes the boom a little heavier but also a lot stiffer. On top of that the construction of the boom is different then the 2 above, the X9 is a full carbon boom with a carbon head piece, making the whole thing super stiff and direct in the response. 

If you are sailing recreational then I would recommend to go with the X6 boom, this will last you a longer time and also will give you a perfect stiffness. This is still affordable but also durable.

Q:What are the UXT system and MXT system?

A:To choose between these two systems, you will need to know what kind of base you’re using. And, you will need to know if you will use SDm mast or RDM mast, as other than base system, extension can also be distinguished by type of mast used. 
MXT system has MXT large release mono-button, for a secure, heavy-duty connection and ease of operation. This works with Power M-Base. It stands friendly easy connexion in all environments. 
UXT system is the button for universal pin system. This works with Power U-Base.

Q:The rope attached to the extension is worn out. Can I replace it?

A:Yes. This is Formula Line Rope, which is an endurance tested highest grade spectra rope for best performance, reduced friction and longevity.
